Father's Day and Fat Fighting

We had a busy wee Father's day which included the following:
Football, birthday parties, pubs, games of pool, bike trials, almighty momentous spectacular tantrums x 2 from both kids, near motherly breakdown, park, out for dinner, WINE, home, Mr Don had a game of golf,  jammies, DVD, kids in bed by 630pm, well they were up partying at 5am.
Learning early
Getting used to his new bike

Us three watching DVDs
Emergency Snack
I am finding out however that when we are busy from the off, I am not the best at sorting out breakfast or lunch, I suppose it is just easy to grab a sandwich etc on route, I need to figure out some options on the run I think.

We did go out for dinner, I chose a nice grilled chicken salad and had a glass of wine, LARGE glass of wine (see opening paragraph).

So once the babies were in bed, I felt the need to snack, I was kind of hungry and could have easily gone for crisps, bread, chocolate, more wine even.

But you know what, I am really serious to finishing my weight loss journey so I made an emergency snack using what I had left on my healthy options and what I knew was free.  Spiced wedges, cheese and onion chutney on toast, carrots and dips. It was a bit of a mis match of a meal but I really enjoyed it.

It is also Sunday that I make the plan of meals for the week ahead, I do this even if I was not dieting, I find it helps keep costs down and its a great way to cook cleaner and from fresh, I always put it up on my heart board to see what we are having at a glance.

This is this weeks menu, again all slimming world.  I am having a Chinese on Friday (my very lucky husband is playing golf at Gleneagles) and I am going to have a wee treat, I will syn for it and I will chose well and I will eat it all myself!

So first of the list this week is our Mexican feast, we have moved away from flour tortillas and now use lettuce leaves, its is a great change, it tastes so good, very clean and healthy option to Fajitas.

I also tried making my own fajita mix and it worked really well, find the recipe here, own salsa and used the  blended cottage cheese pots again as our dip.  Serve this with spiced potato wedges and its a great meal.

Mrs Don Mexican Feast

In our feast we had Chicken Fajitas, Spiced Wedges, Salsa, Dips, Lettuce and Cheese, as you would expect it is slimming world inspired.

I even made my own fajita mix this time.  I am no chef and I don;t cook with exact measurements, so if you are following my recipe use your own taste for spices, for example I am always very generous with paprika and chili

What you will need:
Chicken Breasts cut into goujons
Onion, red and white sliced
Green and yellow peppers sliced
Chili Powder
Paprika
Garlic Salt
Onion Salt
Cayenne Pepper
Ground Cumin
Potatoes

What you need to do:
As  early a you can cut and marinade the chicken in the spices, about 1 or 2 teaspoons of each should be fine.
Pre Heat the oven to 200
Wedge and season your potatoes and put in the over
Slice up all the veg
Put chicken into to a medium to hot pan to seal and brown, then add the veg, cook until chicken is done.
Serve with the wedges, lettuce leaves, cheese, salsa (red onion, tomatoes, garlic, chili and coriander) and dips (we use cottage cheese which we have blended to make dips, chive and chili)

I love using lettuce instead of tortilla wraps - such a great healthier option and it tastes great.

Wee sneaky look

Half way through the first week of being on the waggon and my 7 day diary and I had a wee sneaky look on the scales - its good, very good, but I am also very aware of a couple of things, one is that I get weighed in the evening and when I weighed at home it was morning.  Second thing is I have this insane voice in my head when it comes to food, telling me "oooohhhh you lost that much a cheeky wee chocolate bar will not matter or what about some more wine tonight and then some crisps, no one will know"  I have told this insane wee voice to shut the eff up!

Over all the weekend has been good thus far, bumpy start to yesterday with only a red bull until lunch, I have realised that this is when I am at my weakest, when I have not eaten on time and nothing is  prepared to grab at.

However for lunch I managed to make a gorgeous bacon and chicken club sandwich then had a friggin HUGE fruit salad.  Partly due to me missing breakfast and also I was on a mate date later in the evening.

Mate date was great, lots of chats and also proud of ones self, choosing really well, steak, baked potato and side salad and synned for a large glass of wine, in fact I used up 26 SYNS on a whole bottle of wine! This is why I love Slimming World,  Nothing is off limits.

My head was just a wee bit fuzzy but the hubby and the wee'est one made a lovely cooked breakfast, I actually feel like I have not stopped eating this week, how this works I will never know, the science bit, I mean.  Eat More, Lose More.  I am in!

Had an amazing Lasagne for dinner tonight, recipe is here and below is some the other highlights from the past couple of days, as before, I am no chef or Slimming World professional, I just love cooking and eating and hate being fat.

Yummy Syn Free Red Onion Chutney

Syn Free Chips and Dips, Cottage Cheese Blended was actually quite nice as a dip

Blended this, was really good

Yummy Breakfast this morning

Filled up on this throughout the day

Snorting Biscuits....Well nearly

Today's a bit of uphill, not sure why, half way through first week and I've had such a sweet craving all day.  I do like a bit chocolate here and there but it's been on my mind all friggin day.

Went for the biscuit tin twice, sniffed it once, yes I did  that.  I resorted to snorting biscuit fumes, as long as I don't crush them up and arrange in a vertical manner, it's okay.

Amazing food again today, started with a great full English, couldn't finish it, my favourite salad for lunch, butternut squash and rocket salad with feta and pomegranate then AMAZING grilled marinaded chicken thighs with salad and soya noodles.

I'm going to try and post most recipes at the weekend if its bit already there but let me know if you want any sooner.

As always, I'm not a chef or slimming world official it's just me and my grub!

My Name is Lisa Don and I am a Fatoholic.....

Winoholic, Chocoholic, Antipastioholic, Cakeoholic, Cheeseoholic, Crispoholic.  Okay okay a full blown foodoholic with tinges of wine dependency.

I went back to Fat Class today, my name for my Slimming World Meeting and not just because hubby as said he will pay me £5 per 1lb I get rid of, I knew I had to go as my thighs, in my jeans, where starting to cause so much static electricity that Scottish Power called about paying me for adding electricity on to the Grid!

Plus, my kids asked if I had a baby in my tummy, "no" I answered "it was me that ate all the pies!"

And of course as I mentioned in my previous post, I had hit the 15st mark again.

So tonight I went, I stood on the scales and wonderfully I was 2.5 lbs lighter that my last weigh in with them!  I feel therefore I am just continuing my journey, albeit with a year and bit break.

I do tend to cook or use Slimming World principles more often than not as its just a cleaner more healthy way to cook and eat and it obviously paid off as that is first time I have re-joined any diet class and been lighter!  So onwards and upwards or should that be downwards!

Had another great day with food, although I did forget about eating lunch in the midst of nursery and playgroup runs, shops and Father's Day Craft preparations, bloody house and garden looked like a glitter bomb has gone off.

Not farted as much or as loudly today but peeing for Scotland, undecided if this is food consumption related, you do eat shit loads with Slimming World.

Below are Today's offerings:

Breakfast was egg and ham on toast, some fruit

Lunch was a spinach salad with last night leftover ham and cheese

Dinner was slow cooked beef curry with pickled onions, rocket salad with carrot and chili and some rice, even made my own wee syn free yogurt and mint dip.

Day 1 - Farting like a Man

I am sooooo tired, went to bed last night all organised for starting SW again today, shopping done, food all planned, was going to jump out of bed like a spring chicken and grab the day with both hands.

However my darling children had other ideas!  They thought it was party time between the hours of 2am and 430am.  It was very obvious at 420am that my IKEA black out blind was in fact a piece of shit, as somewhere is the midst of sleep deprivation I vaguely remember trying to explain to my 2.5 and 4 year old that sometimes when its light outside it is still night time.  Luckily we did manage to shepherd them back into their room, where their Gro Anywhere Black out blind does what it say it will and they did go back to sleep.

So instead of jumping out of bed this morning, I dragged myself out like some sort of wild ginger haired cave woman, grunting and muttering about whose idea it was to have kids.

When I did get down the stairs I downed a can of red bull (yes I know its bad for you, but my eyes were sticking together and I had to prepare food and look after children), stuck the kettle on for the back up caffeine and reached for the biscuit tin!  Then remembered it was DAY 1 - Operation G T F O M (get this fat off me) was starting today!  Step Away from the biscuit tin.

Thankfully I had done all the organising yesterday for the week ahead so it was not too bad in the end.  Had breakfast with the kids, which was really nice, I don't usually eat at this time, normally sticking a wash on or some sort of thankless chore.  So already a plus and it is such a joy to hear from the kids about how their bogeys had fallen in their shreddies and the possibility of using a straw to sook it out!
Breakfast turned out to be Shreddies (28g), banana and blueberries, an Apple and coffee. (no syn, milk as an A choice)
Lunch was really good, really tasty, baked potato filled with chicken and extra light mayo and black pepper, I made homemade apple and spring onion coleslaw, and a lovely big spinach salad. 1.5 Syn for the Mayo

And finally Tea, was slow cooked ham, more of that yummy coleslaw, the amazing Slimming World Syn Free chips and even more salad.

I did have a dip around 3pm, really wanted something sweet, took quite a lot of effort not to go for kids biscuits, had a whole argument with myself about it does not matter if no ones knows, "yes it does, you will know, I told myself!"  Weirdo.

But I got through it, made myself a huge bowl of fruit salad, I'd forgotten how much I actually enjoy the taste of fruit, I am not one for thiking, "Ohhhh I fancy a bit melon" or "I am dying for a handful of Kumquats!"

The only down side I have found, is,  this evening I appear to be given the male species a run for their money in the farting stakes, big trumpet ones too, thankfully mines don't have the same aroma as man farts.....yet!!

Eating well, a bit too well

I've been eating, eating well.  Eating well for 10 people it would appear.

Just crashed into the 15st category yet again.  It's started to become like an unwelcomed  friend.  I say friend because on the journey down from 18st ish in 2010 I was so happy to see it, revelled in the 15st loveliness.  It was all happiness, partying and hoopla and then I said goodbye and skipped my way to 14st.

Then I found myself back at 15st door, but not for long, I bid it fair well again promising myself I was never going to visit again.

But since November last year, that bloody 15st has been around way to often.  Hanging about, like it owns the place.

I reached to the back of cupboard and pulled out my slimming world book and weirdly the weight I stopped going was when I was happy with 15stone.

Not now.  I need to finish this, I want to party with 13st!
